How to install a Sun Java plugin for Google Chrome

Google released a new browser dubbed Chrome recently – you might have noticed if you haven’t been hiding under a rock this past week. Probably due to its Beta status, Google Chrome requires a few helping hints to get Java working as a plugin.

Here’s how to get the Sun Java plugin working in Google Chrome:

  1. Install Google Chrome (you probably did this already).
  2. Start Google Chrome.
  3. Download the “Kernel Installation JRE file jre-6u10-rc-windows-i586-p-iftw-k.exe”.

  4. Run jre-6u10-rc-windows-i586-p-iftw-k.exe from your download location.
  5. Terminate and restart Google Chrome.
  6. Verify your install.
